Argyll's Secret Coast
Join Kate, Tom and friends on a journey through a beautiful corner of Argyll
Big skies, sweeping lochs, faint paths that lead forever westward, endless miles of coast. But what do we really see when we look at this distinctive and intriguing part of Scotland? How might we read the traces of the past in the landscape of the present? What do we call to mind about this place? And which aspects of its story deserve commemoration?
Begin your new year with a three month excursion around Argyll's secret coast! With your club subscription you'll receive weekly patterns, interesting essays, beautiful photography, a printed book, and a whole host of KDD extras to enrich your creative journey.

Please read this information carefully before signing up!
What kind of patterns does the Secret Coast club include?
The club patterns include garments, accessories, and items for the home. There's some colourwork, openwork, texture and embroidery techniques. Some patterns are designed with men as well as women in mind, all are graded across an inclusive size range and, like previous clubs, this one includes a blanket / throw. All patterns will remain exclusive to Secret Coast club members throughout the duration of the club and cannot be purchased individually.
Which yarns do the patterns feature?
The Secret Coast patterns are designed for KDD's three flagship yarns: Ooskit, Milarrochy Tweed, and Schiehallion. Yarn packs for each club pattern will be available from the KDD shop after each pattern release. But you can of course knit the Secret Coast designs in any yarn of your choice.
What happens when?
After the club begins in the New Year, you’ll receive a new Secret Coast pattern every Friday.
Every Sunday (following each pattern release), club members will receive an exclusive newsletter in their inboxes. Kate has written around half of the Secret Coast newsletters, with the remaining half including contributions by talented friends of KDD: historians, archaeologists, and local writers, all of whom will share their research about - and personal experiences of - Argyll's Secret Coast.
What are the essays about?
Presented chronologically, the weekly essays will take you from the neolithic period to the recent past. You'll explore the landscape by land and by water; follow in the footsteps of Argyll's early settlers; learn about the creative individuals who found their place here; discover the important (and under-appreciated) colonial and imperial legacies of the landscape; and discover, in a range of different ways what this place has meant to the generations of inventive and resourceful people who have lived, worked, and passed through Argyll's secret coast.
Is there a book?
Yes! The Argyll's Secret Coast book will be published and shipped out to members at the conclusion of the club. The book includes all club content (the essays as well as the patterns). There is a digital-only option for those who prefer this to print.
What about a Knitalong?
During the duration of the club there will be a Secret Coast knitalong, hosted in our Ravelry group, with a range of fabulous prizes for your finished projects! For those who do not use Ravelry, images of your FOs can be submitted to the competition by email.
What extras can I expect?
Club members are entitled to a 10% discount on any purchase made in the KDD shop for the duration of the club. There'll also be a number of wee surprises along the way, and you'll receive some other things to make, read and cook (with an Argyll theme!)
Club sign ups open at 8am December 6th and close at 8pm (GMT) January 6th. The club will not be open to new subscriptions after this time.
